Maintenance Technician – Full Time

General maintenance and repairs in a resort hotel. Maintain guest rooms and public spaces by performing routine maintenance jobs and repairs on heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems. Maintain pools, saunas and hot tubs. We have a strong emphasis on preventative maintenance. Experience in HVAC systems, pool maintenance, electrical and plumbing will be a major asset. Great people skills are necessary since there is frequent interaction with guests. Must be a strong team player as well as able to perform independently.

Waterpark Attendant – Full time

General duties include greeting people, ensuring they are either registered guests. Handling cash and doing daily remittance. General cleaning duties in showers, change rooms, pool, fitness room and bathrooms. Maintaining order in the waterpark and ensuring that rules are followed.

  • Valid First Aid & C.P.R. certification
  • Lifeguard qualifications a definite asset

Housekeeping Room Attendant – Full Time

  • Preparing guest rooms to hotel standards
  • Duties include but not limited to dusting, vacuuming, cleaning kitchens, bathrooms and making beds
  • Reporting lost and found items, including maintenance items
  • Attention to detail
  • Must be neat & tidy in appearance
  • Clear RCMP check required

Working at At Douglas Fir

Staff housing

Shared accommodation is available for rent at a subsidized daily rate, and is subject to availability. To be eligible for staff housing, an employee must be at least 18 years of age. The housing provided is equipped and furnished. A security deposit is required, and rent is deducted from the employee’s pay cheque.

Uniforms

Douglas Fir Resort & Chalets provides uniforms for hourly employees.

Employee benefits

A comprehensive group benefit plan is available to eligible hourly employees after six months of employment. Employees are provided with complimentary internet access and use of the hotel’s recreational facilities including the waterslides, pools, sauna, steam room and fitness room.Additionally, staff appreciation gatherings are occasionally organized.

Conditions of Employment

All employees must provide an acceptable current criminal record check through the local RCMP, and a Canadian social insurance number before a final job offer can be made.

Seasonal vs full-time permanent jobs

Most jobs at Douglas Fir Resort & Chalets are year-round full-time permanent positions. There are some seasonal opportunities available as a housekeeper or waterslide attendant (for example mid-June to mid-September and mid-November to mid-March) with a minimum three-month commitment.

Location and activities

Douglas Fir Resort & Chalets is located on Tunnel Mountain Road just minutes from downtown Banff in Banff National Park, Alberta in the Canadian Rockies. This natural environment offers a wide range of outdoor adventures from hiking, biking and canoeing in the summer to downhill or cross-country skiing, snow shoeing or sledding in the winter.
